John J. Ronan, a partner at Todd & Weld LLP, concentrates his practice in all aspects of domestic relations including, but not limited to divorce, custody, complex financial issues in divorce matters, and prenuptial agreements. Prior to joining Todd & Weld, he was an associate at Atwood & Cherny, P.C. concentrating his practice in domestic relations and equity matters. After graduation from Suffolk Law School in 2007, Mr. Ronan served as a law clerk for the justices of the Massachusetts Probate and Family Courts serving in Essex, Middlesex and Plymouth counties, as well as the administrative office for the chief justice of the Probate and Family Court.
In 2013 and 2014, Mr. Ronan was named a Rising Star by Super Lawyers and Boston Magazine. While up to 5 percent of the lawyers in a state are named to Super Lawyers, no more than 2.5 percent are named to Rising Stars.
Mr. Ronan is a graduate of Tufts University (B.A. Economics 2002) and Suffolk University Law School (J.D. 2007). In addition, he has been admitted to practice in Massachusetts since 2007. While at Suffolk, Mr. Ronan was a member of the Italian Law Students Association and the Suffolk Law Basketball Club. At Tufts University, Mr. Ronan was vice president and philanthropy chair of his fraternity, Delta Upsilon.
Mr. Ronan has coauthored Chapter Five, Motion Practice of the Massachusetts Divorce Law Manual published by MCLE. Mr. Ronan also coauthored an article for MCLE entitled “The Equities of Double Dipping in Massachusetts.” He has lectured at MCLE on the topic of "Golden Year Divorces," as well as lecturing on divorce basics for young lawyers at the MBA. His professional memberships include: Massachusetts Bar Association, the Boston Bar Association, and the Greater Boston Family Law American Inn of Court.
