Michael DiStefano quoted in Law360 article on successful resolution of criminal case

Michael R. DiStefano was quoted in a Law360 article on the probation sentencing of a client in connection with tax evasion.

Initially charged with theft and tax evasion charges, the client agreed to plead guilty to two counts of filing false tax returns as a result of not reporting revenue from the online sale of more than $200,000 of Gillette razors blades. All other charges were dropped. He was sentenced to probation and must pay restitution to the IRS.

Mr. DiStefano's client sold the razors online through his company after obtaining the razors from another individual who pled guilty to one count of causing the interstate transportation of stolen property.

Mr. DiStefano told Law360 that his client "is gratified that the government agreed to dismiss all charges against him related to any alleged theft of products from The Gillette Company as he has always maintained his innocence as to those accusations."

The client fully accepted responsibility for not filing complete tax returns, Mr. DiStefano added.

Howard M. Cooper, a Founding Partner of the firm, worked on the case with Mr. DiStefano.

Mr. DiStefano concentrates his practice in the areas of government investigations and criminal defense, including defending clients at trial and in pre-indictment government investigations.
