Megan Deluhery quoted in Washington Post article on legal issues related to Stormy Daniels controversy
Megan C. Deluhery was quoted in a Washington Post article on legal issues related to a potential "60 Minutes" segment involving an interview with Stormy Daniels.
The article published March 12 addresses potential efforts by President Trump to block CBS from broadcasting an interview of Daniels, who according to news reports claims to have had an affair with him.
The "60 Minutes" segment has not yet been scheduled for telecast.
Ms. Deluhery told the Washington Post that it is likely too late to stop the broadcast.
"She's already given the interview," Ms. Deluhery said. "CBS would need to be a party to the suit to be restrained from airing the interview, and since the obligation on Ms. Daniels arose as part of a private settlement, I don't see much legal basis to enjoin CBS -- a stranger to the settlement agreement -- from doing anything."
Ms. Deluhery is a partner at Todd & Weld, where she concentrates her litigation practice on defamation law, as well as employment litigation, closely held business disputes, civil rights litigation, and insurance benefits litigation.
She successfully represented Bill Cosby accuser, Kristina Ruehli, in a defamation suit. Ms. Deluhery in 2016 defeated a motion to dismiss filed by Cosby, and obtained evidence from a third-party witness to substantiate Ms. Ruehli's contemporanious account of the attempted sexual assault by Cosby.
