Matt Furman to present on Massachusetts lis pendens statute

Matt Furman will co-present on the Massachusetts lis pendens statute at a webinar hosted by the Business and Commercial Litigation Section of the Boston Bar Association.

The April 5 program (12:00-1:00 p.m.) will provide insights on the mechanics and impact of a lis pendens notice on property from a litigation and transactional perspective.  The lis pendens statute is designed to notify potential real estate buyers of pending lawsuits affecting title to real property, and can now lead to robust dispositive motion practice at the outset of a case with potential for fee-shifting and immediate appeal rights.

Mr. Furman, who serves on the BBA’s Business and Commercial Litigation Section Steering Committee, has considerable experience representing developers, landowners and abutters in real estate litigation matters, including issues related to the lis pendens statute.
