Overview
Avana Epperson-Temple is a litigation and trial attorney whose practice focuses on healthcare litigation, government and regulatory investigations, white-collar criminal defense, and complex business disputes.
She represents healthcare providers and entities — including healthcare executives, hospitals, pharmacies, medical device companies, and individual medical professionals — in regulatory enforcement actions, licensing and disciplinary proceedings, government investigations, Medicaid and Medicare audits, and subpoena-related matters involving state and federal agencies, including Offices of Inspector General and Attorneys General.
Ms. Epperson-Temple also advises clients on regulatory compliance, risk management, and business disputes where legal, operational, and reputational concerns intersect, including matters involving potential criminal exposure and threats to professional licensure.
An experienced trial and appellate advocate, Ms. Epperson-Temple has successfully tried cases to verdict in state court and argued before the Massachusetts Appeals Court.
In addition to her practice, Ms. Epperson-Temple has held numerous leadership and advisory roles reflecting institutional trust and governance experience. In 2025, she received the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce Pinnacle Award for Emerging Executive. She also completed her term as President of the Massachusetts Black Lawyers Association, during which the organization nearly doubled its prior eight-year high in net fundraising proceeds. She serves on the Massachusetts Superior Court’s Business Litigation Session Advisory Committee and is faculty for the National Institute of Trial Advocacy.
