Todd & Weld attorneys participate in lobbying effort to increase funding for civil legal aid

Numerous Todd & Weld attorneys converged on Beacon Hill to participate in the 18th Annual Walk to the Hill lobby day for increased funding for civil legal aid to low-income Massachusetts residents.

Hundreds of lawyers and members of the judiciary, including six of the seven justices of the Supreme Judicial Court, met at the State House on Jan. 26 to listen to remarks by bar leaders on the vital need for civil legal aid, and to lobby individual legislators for a $5 million increase in funding to $23 million in fiscal year 2018.

Jeffrey N. Catalano, partner at the firm and President of the Massachusetts Bar Association, addressed the crowd, emphasizing that Massachusetts should take the lead in protecting vulnerable citizens in need of civil legal aid.

The Walk to the Hill is sponsored by the Equal Justice Coalition, a collaboration of the Massachusetts Bar Association, Boston Bar Association, and the Massachusetts Legal Assistance Corporation.
