Todd & Weld Welcomes Jacob Maddox to its Criminal Defense Practice
Todd & Weld LLP that Jacob Maddox has joined the firm as an associate in its Government Investigations & Criminal Defense Practice Group.
Mr. Maddox is a litigation attorney whose practice focuses on criminal defense and complex litigation matters. He represents clients in state criminal proceedings and brings significant courtroom and trial experience to his practice.
Prior to joining Todd & Weld, Mr. Maddox served as a public defender with the Committee for Public Counsel Services (CPCS) in Boston’s Trial Unit, where he represented clients from arraignment through disposition in a wide range of criminal matters. His responsibilities included conducting pretrial investigations, interviewing witnesses, preparing and arguing motions, negotiating case resolutions, and trying criminal cases before judges and juries.
Before his work at CPCS, Mr. Maddox served as a law clerk at Demissie & Church, where he assisted in the defense of state and federal criminal matters. In that role, he drafted motions to suppress and dismiss, reviewed discovery materials, supported trial strategy development, and assisted during criminal trials.
Mr. Maddox also served as a judicial intern to the Honorable David H. Hennessy of the United States District Court for the District of Massachusetts. During his internship, he researched and drafted memoranda and recommendations involving federal habeas corpus petitions and a variety of civil matters, while gaining firsthand exposure to federal court proceedings.
Mr. Maddox earned his J.D. from Suffolk University Law School.
His addition further strengthens Todd & Weld’s criminal defense team, which represents individuals, professionals, executives, and organizations in state and federal investigations, prosecutions, and complex litigation matters.
