Todd & Weld Achieves $250,000 Settlement for Nursing Home Resident

Todd & Weld achieved a $250,000 pre-suit settlement on behalf of a 98-year-old resident of the defendant nursing home.  The plaintiff suffered from Parkinson's disease, arthritis and early dementia and was noted to be at high risk for falling.

The plaintiff alleged that an employee of the nursing home did not follow the resident's care plan when the employee attempted to transfer the plaintiff by herself rather than with the assistance of an aide.  As a result, the resident fell and broke her leg, which eventually led to an open ulcerated area on her left ankle while her left heel turned necrotic. Due to the severity of the problem, the plaintiff required an above-the-knee amputation. The plaintiff passed away five months later.
