On February 25, 2013, Benjamin Wish, an associate with Todd & Weld, was one of two speakers at a forum presented by the Boston Bar Association. The program, entitled "Social Media Defamation Litigation," discussed the proliferation of social media and the reputational damage it can cause, giving rise to an increased number of social media lawsuits.
The program provided an overview of recent social media defamation cases, and assessed the trends those cases represent. It also addressed particular issues associated with social media defamation lawsuits, including anti-SLAPP motions and strategies and challenges associated with obtaining the identities of John Doe defendants.
