Mr. Catalano based his article on his belief that “good trial attorneys are true believers in the ability of the legal process to improve lives and remedy a terribly flawed health care system.”  He comments on the fact that malpractice lawsuits and plaintiff verdicts have become increasingly rare even though there remains an epidemic of medical errors. 

Mr. Catalano and his partner, Lisa Arrowood, were given permission to speak with the jury immediately after a verdict for their clients in a medical malpractice case.  Mr. Catalano's article sets forth strategic concepts that were used in presenting the plaintiff's case and the consequence of those strategies as reinforced by the discussion with the jurors.
