As reported in Lawyers Weekly's April 12, 2010, edition, Todd & Weld has served the Boston Herald with a defamation lawsuit on behalf of Joanna Marinova, a prison-rights advocate.  David H. Rich, one of the Todd & Weld attorneys representing Ms. Marinova, asserts that the Herald's May 28, 2009, story intended to sensationalize a visit by Rep. Jeffrey N. Catalano Testifies on Medical Malpractice and Charitable Cap Bills
As reported in the Massachusetts Lawyers Journal February 2010 edition, Jeffrey N. Catalano, Secretary of the Massachusetts Bar Association (“MBA”), testified at a hearing on January 28, 2010 before the Massachusetts Joint Committee on the Judiciary regarding pending medical malpractice and charitable cap bills.  Mr. Catalano presented the MBA's position on House Bill 1332, An Act Improving Patients' Access to Timely Compensation, otherwise called the “apology bill.”

David E. Meier, Formerly Chief of Homicide with Suffolk County DA'S Office, Joins Todd & Weld LLP
Todd & Weld LLP has announced that David E. Meier will join the firm on March 3, 2008.  Mr. Meier has been with the Suffolk County District Attorney's Office since 1996, most recently serving as the Chief of Homicide.  During his time with the DA's Office, he was responsible for extensive grand jury investigative work, trial of major homicide cases, and briefing and argument of appellate cases and issues.  He acted as the lead state prosecutor in multi-agency investigations involving federal, state, and local law enforcement issues.
